I created this web site to familiarize my patients with my orthopaedic practice, my staff, and the services we provide.
I am a partner in the Fondren Orthopaedic Group. I am a board certified orthopaedic surgeon dedicated to providing exceptional orthopaedic foot and ankle care in the Houston area for the past 13 years. My orthopedic practice specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of foot and ankle problems. In preparation for this I have completed a 5 year orthopedic residency and additional year in foot and ankle fellowship training. This provided the opportunity for a broad based training and experience in the diagnosis and management(nonoperative and operative) of orthopedic and foot and ankle problems.

As a foot and ankle surgeon, Dr. Loncarich often works intimately with other physicians in order to provide an optimal and comprehensive treatment care plan. This includes physicians specializing in internal medicine, pediatrics, vascular surgery, radiology, plastic surgery, endocrinology and anesthesiology. Utilization of the expertise of these other specialists in the treatment and your foot and ankle problem insures the optimal outcome and the quickest recovery possible.

Oftentimes patients think that they do not need to see an orthopedic surgeon because they feel that they do not want nor need surgery. As a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in the treatment of foot and ankle problems, Dr. Loncarich is focused on the appropriate treatment of the given problem and the given situation. Most problems can be treated and improved without surgical procedure. These options include physical therapy, bracing, immobilization in boots or cast, and orthotics. However, if these measures are unsuccessful surgery is always a potential solution, but in most cases this is the final solution.

What is an orthopedic doctor?
What education and experience does Dr. Loncarich have?

Dr. Loncarich then went on to complete a fellowship specializing in orthopedic care of the foot and ankle. Dr. Loncarich’s early training came through the Navy where he learned a model of care based not on profit but on the well-being of the patient.

What about sports injuries?

What is the difference between a Houston podiatric surgeon and a Houston foot and ankle orthopedic surgeon?

Many patients wonder whether to meet with a podiatrist or choose an orthopedic doctor to address their foot and ankle issues. While podiatrists are medical practitioners who specialize in the foot and ankle, they do not have the breadth of medical background that orthopedic doctors have. Podiatrist’s study for a shorter time, at a more limited number of universities, and only complete three years of medical residency as contrasted with the five that Orthopedic doctors complete. Orthopedic doctors also complete a fellowship in their field of specialization while podiatrists may or may not do so. You may choose to get podiatric surgery or orthopedic surgery for your foot and ankle issues, but an orthopedic surgeon will typically have a stronger medical background and experiences.
